In the autumn of 1998, the Health Board wished to better support staff in achieving it's organisational goals in and effective manner.

The Well-Being Audit was selected in preference to other audit/surveys explored because it:

  • focuses on the positive, not the negative;

  • looks at stressors as well as coping mechanisms:

  • can be done in privacy;

  • Provides immediate feedback and suggested a personnel training and development plan.

What has The Health Board Gained?

  • Evidence of areas and levels of strength and weaknesses within organisation.

  • Raised staff awareness and equipped them with the skills and understanding to manage work pressure.

  • Visibly more relaxed staff

  • Staff more sensitive to the effects of their behaviour and interactions with each other, hence better working relationships.

  • The process has revitalised the organisation - 'status quo is not acceptable'.
